Should I buy a TV display case

A showcase sample is a product installed on the trading floor of a store to demonstrate its capabilities and functionality. Televisions displayed on a display window work continuously around the clock, and many buyers do not risk taking such equipment. These concerns are not always justified. Below are tips for buying a TV display case.

If you need a specific model, but it is left in a single copy, you can buy a display case - sellers of electronics will provide a guarantee on it as well as on samples from stock. When buying such equipment, the store can offer the buyer a discount, like on used goods, and further reduce the price if there are visible external damages (scratches, scuffs). In addition, factory defects are detected in the first few months of operation of the equipment, therefore, when buying a display case, its performance is guaranteed.

Often in small stores only one TV of different models is available, and all of them are unpacked and displayed on the trading floor. If there are no other stores available that offer similar models from stock, you can take a TV from the window.

If the TV has serious damage - dents, “broken” pixels on the screen, etc., then you should not take it. He could stand in the window for several years, which means that his resource has already been partially spent.

Before buying equipment from a storefront, the buyer should carefully study the prices of the model of TV he is interested in in other stores - a storefront sample, even at a discount from one seller, can cost more than a similar product from a warehouse from another.

Although many modern TVs have a fairly large resource, this does not apply to the optical unit, which reads information from disks. Therefore, the purchase of a home theater, which has stood for a long time on a display window and turned advertising discs, should be abandoned.

If the store has goods from stock and the discount on the display case is small, then it is better not to risk it and buy an unpacked copy.

General conditions for verification, purchase of display cases

It is important to examine the appearance of the product. If the equipment looks new, the box does not smell like dust, and the packaging of accessories, such as the remote control and instructions, is not damaged, most likely, the TV was not used for long and you can safely take it. It is worth inspecting the screen for any “broken / stuck” pixels, scratches on glossy surfaces and other defects.

The presence of dust on the connector panels and in the ventilation slots, wrinkled packages from the remote control and wires, a torn / wrinkled box - all these signs indicate that the TV was repeatedly used in the windows of several stores or was returned under warranty. You can only take such equipment at a big discount, and there is a great risk that he will spend most of the warranty period in the repair service. And although the warranty extends to display cases, in the event of a breakdown, problems may arise with the proof of certain facts.

No need to judge the duration of operation of the equipment in the trading floor of the store by a sticker with the date of production. A television could have been manufactured several years ago, but stood in a display case for a month, or, conversely, continuously worked for a year from the moment of its production.

If the store does not provide a fixed discount on display cases, then you need to negotiate with the seller about it. In cases where the seller refuses to reduce the price, it is better to buy a new TV in another store.
